Family Science, Tech, Art, PE

Science

We are immensely enjoying Exploring Creation; Zoology 2, Swimming Creatures of the Fifth Day. This is feeling like a large growth year for our family and this curriculum adds to that.
Aiden, Gemma, and Keiran are richly learning from this text. We have begun to collect our sea animals to build an ocean, as we work through
each unit...

Gemma colored a seal scripture page.

Aiden recorded some facts about walruses.

Gemma's walrus and manatee fact page.

Keiran's walrus and manatee write up.

Applied Skills, Design, and Technology

Gemma and Keiran have been helping Aiden create some short movies.
Keiran recently had a birthday and everyone joined to build a Lego Train and Station.

Arts Education

The Lokstet kids make homemade Christmas ornaments for the tree every year. This year they got learned a new skill, doing some cross-stitch needlework.

PE

This past season has consisted of bike riding, sledding, then back to bike riding, parkour, and soccer.

And more.....!!

Art
Gemma drew a tourist from our "Step-By-Step Drawing People" Usborne book.

She also chose to draw a little boy.

While Aiden was waiting for his turn to use the book, he doodled a dude.

Aiden chose to draw a tap dancer.

Keiran used these posed men and.....

 these faces.....

... and Keiran drew an angry man doing a pulling gesture. He thought it looked more like a vampire doing the whip-nae dance moves.

Applied Skills, Design, and Tech.
Aiden and Keiran did some spring cleaning in their room and so had room for a new Lego table. Keiran loves to build and create scenes. (Mostly construction sites!)

Gemma learned how to read a recipe and baked some cookies.

They were delicious, classic, chocolate chip cookies.

Aiden found a new music app that allows him to create songs and mixes. This was his music mix.
(Keiran also made one but I forgot to get a pic.)

The Extras.

This new year of school is about reforming. The outcomes, and the way we do things are all changing. These things, along with changing schools and cities, are stretching us. We aren't at a usual pace yet and are still struggling to find a groove. I think this also has a bit to do with Mom needing some rest and healing after such a hard past year. Regardless, time marches on. Here are some
random pic that I have not had time to blog about!

The Bike Park

 Keiran.

Aiden conquering his fear of the bowl and "killing" it!

Dinner Making
Gemma is becoming excellent at dinner prep and loves making salad.

Aiden loves to cook and wanted in on the prep too.

Our place to play outdoors (Paul Lake).
This little tag-along is always keeping up with his "guys," as he so lovingly calls them.

Out at Paul Lake, collecting autumn nature samples.

It was very beautiful and smelly at this time of year.

 Keiran digging a trench.

 Finn testing it out.

 And there was running.

 ....And climbing.

Aiden, Gemma, Keiran, (and Finn) found lots of shells- many inhabited.

The natural thing is to come home and make a snail habitat.
