We finished up our Social study curriculum learning about regional Canadian animals from these books:

 

We read a little about their food, family, and habitat. 

Donna Ward has been a great resource and we will use these books again throughout the grades.

An encouraged mom.

I just have to say that I am super encouraged this morning. We are finishing up most courses here and it is just the end of April. We have had a few challenges once or twice but it has been a great and rewarding year. I am glad that we chose to homeschool. My children are thriving and our home is more the way I would like it. I am also encouraged because a friend and I spent the weekend at a homeschool conference. I now have my books planned for all three kids next year (I am planning on starting Keiran in Kindergarten right along with Gemma). We also took in two of the seminars this weekend and they were inspiring to say the least. I am refreshed as things are slowing down and am ready to prep for next year. It takes a bit to figure out curriculum which fits each child but this year was easier as we knew more what was out there and what we needed. Can't wait to post our new books.

It's March and we are powering through still.

 

Aiden has finished Primer in Math. He is so proud. I love these certificates at the end of programs- they give a kid such a sense of accomplishment :)  I have yet to order Alpha but hopefully I can soon.

He is already on to reading book two. 

 

Aiden has also finished up his socials workbook. The last lesson was about Terry Fox. Aiden has been on a Terry Fox run before and he wants to ride his bike for the next one. 

We still have a few books that we can read that came with our Canadian Socials pack so we will review the Provinces in story form next, and then read about regional animals (this may cross over to science too).
