ENGLISH

Our English curriculum has finally arrived....

The grade one pack.
&
The inside contents :)

P. Eeeeeeee

We have just finished two weeks of Sea Otter swimming lessons with our dear friends. It was fun driving into town every evening together. This was both Aiden and Gemma's first time and they have had little experience in the water. Now they know a little water safety and can dunk their heads under- which was Mom's goal for them. We overcame alot of fear with Aiden (which was probably projected from his Mamma unfortunately) and except for needing a little more practice with gliding and back floats, they are on our way to being little swimmers. Hooray!
I think we may repeat this program in the spring and build their skills and confidence :)

Building Blocks

I love watching my kids play cooperatively together while they imagine up a storm of ideas. One day they brought out the matching dominoes and decided to build towers and houses with them. The next day they added Lego cars and a whole city out of game blocks. Fun!

The start of the build.

One tower.

A city of imagination.

Gem's creation.

trees = bugs

I grabbed the camera this afternoon as we were out playing in the backyard. We already have pics for stage two of our backyard plants, but they are getting bigger. There has been more growth popping up everywhere because of the rain, and now we have giant mushrooms and mosses. Today however was even more special because we saw some interesting surprises on our plants. First we found a Lady bug, and when reassured that they don't hurt people, Aiden tried to catch it. Then when taking pictures of our huge lilac bush, mom saw a beautiful Monarch butterfly (or so I thought, these are actually Tiger Swallowtail butterflies). Aiden was excited. Then there was two butterflies, and another, and then more. At that point all of the kids had joined in the excitement. There must have been eight different yellow butterflies, one after another!

logging gym

School is out and now we are free of the confines of it all. This makes me so happy. Now onto homeschool.... I wanted to take a much needed rest and leave everything for the beginning of September, however, we have started a PE log which will give us some extra weeks before the snow flies. I don't think I will ever have a problem with Aiden when it comes to gym. This boy is never still and is always jumping, bike riding, running, and doing hand-stands off of everything. He loves to kick around the ball and play soccer, hockey, really anything, as well.
I made a chart to log his activities daily. I used the activities from our school (Ches) log and personalized it to make sure he is getting the daily requirement, which is thirty minutes minimum. Like I said before, he will not have trouble- I could log all day. Ha ha. However, it will be good practice as my next children come up to school age. Gemma is my calm, quiet one, and might need a little more nudging.
