Keiran and Aiden building a Lego road/town.

 Aiden's cannon truck.

 Gemma's jet ski.

*Keiran, Aiden, and Gemma all like to create worlds in Minecraft too. They also attend Kid's Church and learn songs and do crafts.

H&C

The dreaded laundry is a monster, but it is a lifelong task. We are trying a new way to do this life skill.

We have worked out a family system where each child has their own basket of laundry. This is set up on a table beside the dryer. The kids are responsible for emptying the basket and putting everything away in their drawers, and then returning an empty basket. It puts more responsibility on each kid and takes some of the load off mom.

Pics....

Keiran and Gemma listened to a story about life on the East coast of Canada.

We use these handy laminated placemats that we found at Walmart to look at the provinces.

 Very handy.

Aiden finished up his unit on the Inuit and is now learning about the Eastern Woodland Farmers. This book was a review of all he has learned about the Inuit people, and he can tell you all about their housing, food, travel, etc.

Gemma is working through her map book too.

Science

We have been doing a little extra science, and are still learning about animals (birds this month, to be exact).

Aiden found this in our school cupboard and wanted to explore it, and so he did.

Bird's are very interesting. Did you know that they don't have teeth?

Aiden doing a worksheet about a bird's digestive system.

We have been also learning about space, as it is on the menu for grade three. We have taken out some library books and also have some other curriculum about planets, moons, and stars.

On this day our neighbor was over and the kids were learning about planets. He had a song to share with us that he learned. So fun! And, we learned about how Pluto used to be a planet when old mom was a kid.

Math

Math Grade K, 1, and 3. A little sample of all the kids' work:

Keiran is strong enough to start Math-U-See Primer. So why wait?! He was excited to be doing the same books as the other kids.

Gemma is far into Primer- steady ahead like this girl always is.

I often give the kids "cheat sheets" when they are having trouble remembering math facts. They think they are getting help (which they are) but are also memorizing what they need to learn.

Aiden is working on Math-U-See Beta.

Bible stories

We have been reading in a younger bible story book lately.

PEeeeeeee

More snow, warm temps, and kids feeling better has equalled tons of outdoor time.

Aren't they ingenious?!

And, the energy doesn't stop indoors either.

A rousing half-hour game of soccer with little bro's baby ball.

Health

We have been in a weird season. Our school year has not been as smooth and organized as usual. (Have I said this before?) We are having a lot of days off for health concerns. After being sick, with the flu this time, we have been able to get in a good groove. Finally! It is nice, and it is good, to step back and simplify what every child needs. I can now see where we need to go to build each child's strengths, as well as weak spots. Onward. This busy mom is also re-reading the first homeschool book that encouraged me on how to go about things. I am sure it will spark old ideas that I have forgotten in the chaos....
