Aiden

We have been working a lot as a family when it comes to most subjects. It has been great to gather as one in this hard season, and each child contributes what they can at their own level.
Aiden's work:

Math-U-See Epsilon, The rule of four formula. Aiden has had no trouble with fractions and has been accomplishing each lesson with ease.

Comparing fractions, with the rule of four.

.

First thing in the morning we gather as a family and read together. We are loving this second book in the series. We are learning about things like women's rights, influenza, horse travel, the mail system, winters on the prairie, and one room school houses; and in relation to early immigrant life in Alberta.

Some of our nature learning before we head out on our Monday nature hike.

Aiden learned to identify a Stellers Jay.

On our nature hike we learn to notice things like the shape of leaves, the bark of trees, and the seasons changes, etc. Aiden picked a Maple Tree seed for his collection and illustrated it in his nature journal, as well as looked up some facts about it.

Scripture copy work.

Aiden has been reading this book for silent reading.

We have learned weekly about a different part of speech, played a game or did an activity with each one, and then added it onto our individual stories somehow.

The process is a bit awkward but little by little Aiden is editing his story adding more parts. The underlined words are some verbs he added in this week.

Some science facts.

Review what you know.

Some textbook diagrams.

Social Study lap books have been a great group project this term. The kids all research together and help one another, doing much of the searching and printing, and choosing of facts- Aiden very much takes the lead in this. Here is part 3 & 4, learning about Scottish Canadians.

For activity Aiden has been swimming, hiking, playing at the park, participating in youth group wide games, and working out. He has also made some health goals for himself- a challenge to increase his strength and arm wrestle ability.
Aiden volunteers at church behind the sound booth and downstairs being a leader for Kid's Church.
He is keeping up with his chores- like emptying the garbage and recycling everyday.
He is attending church and two youth groups weekly, has family prayer time, and does devotions with mom in the eve.
Aiden loves to create anything when he can use tech. He makes utube videos and loves to create original mixed songs too.
